Garrett hired as Feeder Calf Certification Program coordinator

Denton, Texas - Chessie Garrett has been named the tag program coordinator and member services specialist for the Red Angus Association of America.

In her role, she will aid producers in enrollment into the USDA-process-verified program and provide program support in completing the required elements of ordering tags for the Feeder Calf Certification Program, Allied Access and Pro-Cow tag programs.

Garrett is no stranger to the beef industry or the Red Angus breed. She grew up on a commercial cow-calf operation where she was involved in added-value marketing programs. She was an active member of the Junior Red Angus program as a youth and completed an internship with the RAAA. In the last year, she has worked part-time in the Red Angus National Office as she pursued her bachelor’s degree in animal science from Tarleton State University, which she successfully obtained in December of 2015.

A member of the marketing team, Garrett will be the primary contact for the RAAA electronic marketing programs such as Red Angus Stockyard, FeederFax and FeMail. She will also aid multiple departments with the ability to fill in as the need arises.

“The beef industry and Red Angus breed have been my life-long passion,” said Garrett.  “I’m excited that research is indicating calves identified as having Red Angus influence have a higher value in the marketplace.  I look forward to working with RAAA stakeholders from across the country and aiding them in maximizing a return on their Red Angus genetic investments.”

Garrett can be reached at chessie@redangus.org or (940) 387–3502 Ext. 2.
