Red Angus producers meet the challenge to producer higher carcass quality

Red Angus ranches and feeders achieved a new level of excellence this year as an outstanding 64 loads of cattle – over 2,500 head – reached tremendous yield and quality combinations to earn Grid Master status.

Leadership development is essential to ensure a solid future for agriculture. The Junior Red Angus Association (JRA) is strongly rooted in leadership development and focuses on building leaders through programs that strengthen knowledge and life skills in the beef industry.

On Sept. 14, producers will glean information from top industry experts on adding value to their natural resources, labor and calf crop at the Commercial Cattlemen’s Symposium.

Red Angus breeders will assemble on the east coast for the Red Angus National Convention Sept. 14 - 16. This year’s convention takes place at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham, N.C., with a post-convention tour set for Sept. 17.

Junior Red Angus Association of America (JRA) members and two Canadian representatives gathered in the heart of the nation for the 19th annual Junior Round-Up June 21 – 26. The JRA Round-Up is an opportunity for Red Angus juniors to build public speaking and leadership skills, increase breed and industry knowledge, and network with other juniors from across the nation.

Beef Improvement Federation leadership changed hands at the end of the research seminar and annual meeting held in Bozeman, Mont., June 1-5, which included election of the 2011-2012 board of directors. Three Red Angus producers will assume new roles within the Federation.
