Schuler-Olsen Ranch of Bridgeport, Neb., won the prestigious Grid Master Award for raising and feeding Red Angus cattle that meet and exceed strict carcass quality specifications. Skinner Ranches of Jordan Valley, Ore., won the prestigious Grid Master Award for raising and feeding Red Angus cattle that meet and exceed strict carcass quality specifications. The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) announced its 2013 Grid Master awards during the 60th National Convention in Lewiston, Mont., this fall.

Rob Fraser of Miles City, Mont., was recently recognized with an industry service award from the Red Angus Association of America (RAAA). Fraser is co-owner of Miles City Livestock Commission in Miles City, Mont. The RAAA’s Industry Service award is presented annually to a business, individual or association from the beef industry or academic community that has helped the Red Angus breed achieve excellence in the past year.

Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) members re-elected fellow breeder Tim Whitley of Horton, Ala., to a second year as president of the national breed association. Whitley, a 46-year member of the RAAA, said, “It has been a great pleasure and challenge to serve as president of the RAAA. Our breed has experienced great growth and continues to be successful in serving the commercial producer with sound, functional cattle. As president, I will continue to work with the board to increase and strengthen our association.”

The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) presented its John V. Robbins Distinguished Service award to Tom Woodward of Decatur, Texas. The John V. Robbins Distinguished Service award is presented to Red Angus members or individuals of the RAAA who have contributed to the betterment of services offered by the Association – individuals who have contributed time or talents to enhance the services provided by RAAA.

The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) has named Ron and Esther Fischer of Harlowton, Mont., the 2013 Personality of the Year. The award is reserved for special Red Angus members, who, in the eyes of the beef industry, are leaders in their particular field of endeavor, be it cattle raising, breeding, marketing or promotion.

Former Junior Red Angus (JRA) Association President Alyssa Looney of Denton, Texas, was named the 2013 Outstanding JRA Member during the 60th Red Angus National Convention held in Lewistown, Mont., this fall.

The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) presented its 2013 Pioneer Breeder of the Year award to the R.A. Brown Ranch of Throckmorton, Texas. Kelli Brown, past president of the RAAA accepted the award on behalf of the Brown family during the RAAA’s 60th National Convention Sept. 13 in Lewistown, Mont.
