FCCP Sweepstakes Adds Incentive to Enroll Calves Early

Yellow Tags can help you win in the marketplace and more!

Don’t miss your opportunity to take home a cool grand and be a winner in the marketplace when you enroll in the Red Angus Feeder Calf Certification Program.

From January 1 to June 30, 2017, FCCP-enrolled cattle producers will be entered to win a $1,000 cash prize with each bag of 25 FCCP tags they purchase. It’s a win-win scenario!

Research shows that calves identified as Red Angus genetics in the marketplace sell for a higher price. Red Angus commercial producers are already winners with the USDA’s longest running and most reliable genetic, age and source verification program! The FCCP Sweepstakes program offers an added bonus to enroll calves early. The FCCP program is free to enroll and the only cost is the 99-cent dangle tag or $3 EID-dangle tag combination.

Cattlemen can call to enroll their calf crop by answering a few simple management questions, and be entered in the sweepstakes today! The winner will be selected by random drawing. Contact Chessie Mitchell, tag program coordinator, at chessie@redangus.org, or call (940) 387-3502 Ext. 2, to enroll in the program.

Making critical decisions about the future of your breeding program demands the very best tools and up-to-date information available. The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) has released the 2017 Spring EPDs that evaluate traits from calving ease to performance to carcass merit. The suite of numbers includes tools to select cattle with optimum economic relevance such as stayability, heifer pregnancy and maintenance energy requirements. GridMaster and HerdBuilder indexes offer a comprehensive tool to help cattlemen achieve their breeding goals.

For more information on EPDs, visit the “Genetics” page on the RAAA website, RedAngus.org. Producers can also access individual animals’ EPDs and breed percentiles, or calculate the projected EPDs of specific matings on the website.
