Week ending Nov. 3, 2023

The national feeder calf average was $241.21 this week — $1.42 higher with trade mostly $2
lower to $4 higher. This is lower compared to last month which was $250.40. Stocker cattle
traded $1.81 higher at $277.54 — down from last month at $282.97.

Fed cattle trade in the North and South remained steady, trading at $185. Live cattle
futures closed at $1.65 to $2.92 higher compared to last week. Carcass weights remained the
same from this week to last week at 927 lb. Boxed beef Choice cutouts were $5.23 lower at
$302.34 and the Select cutout was $8.11 lower at $272.01. This made the Choice/Select spread at
$30.33 — $2.88 higher than last week.

The cull cow market is staying steady. Cutter cow cutout trended $0.35 higher at $231.69, while
slaughter cows traded mostly $1 higher to $4 lower.
