Entries Due for National Red Angus Show

Posted June 20, 2017

“Nothing Compares to State Fair Thrills” – except the National Red Angus Junior and Open Shows slated for the Iowa State Fair this August.

The entry deadline is July 1 and Red Angus exhibitors may enter online at IowaStateFair.org. The Iowa State Fair will accept late entries until July 8 but exhibitors must pay a late fee.

July 1 is also the deadline for animal ownership and exhibitors must be a valid member in good standing of the Red Angus Association of America or Junior Red Angus Association of America.

The junior show will take place on Friday, Aug. 18, and the open show on Saturday, Aug. 19.

“We are excited to include the Iowa State Fair in our National Show rotation,” said Chessie Mitchell, RAAA show coordinator. “By rotating the National Show location and time of year, we are able to offer the opportunity to RAAA members who might not be able to attend the same venue each year.”

Mitchell also reminded exhibitors to familiarize themselves with RAAA ownership and show rules found in Section J of the RAAA Breeder’s Guide.

For complete details, a link to the online entry form and a link to the RAAA Breeder’s Guide, visit redangus.org/calendar/red-angus-shows/information. Exhibitors may contact Mitchell at chessie@redangus.org or 940-387-3502, ext. 2, with further questions.

The Red Angus Association of America serves the beef industry by enhancing and promoting the competitive advantages of Red Angus and Red Angus-influenced cattle. The RAAA provides commercial producers with the most objectively described cattle in the industry by seeking and implementing new technologies based on sound, scientific principles that measure traits of economic importance.
