The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) has named Ron and Esther Fischer of Harlowton, Mont., the 2013 Personality of the Year. The award is reserved for special Red Angus members, who, in the eyes of the beef industry, are leaders in their particular field of endeavor, be it cattle raising, breeding, marketing or promotion.

“Fischers are deserving of this award in so many ways,” said fellow Red Angus breeder, Donna Laubach of Big Timber, Mont., who presented the award during the 2013 Red Angus National Convention in Lewistown, Mont. “No matter what, the Fischers give of themselves 100 percent. They’ve been members of the RAAA for 28 years and have never missed a Red Angus Caucus. They selflessly donate their time as board members and leaders at both the state and national levels.”

The Fischers have been instrumental in organizing the Montana Red Angus Futurity and other Red Angus events in the state. Additionally, both Ron and Esther have served as president of the Montana Red Angus Association. Esther has also served as the Montana Red Angus Association secretary and vice president and volunteered as the junior advisor for nine years. Esther also recently served on the RAAA board of directors.

“It is clear that the Red Angus breed is no. 1  for the Fischers,” said Laubach, “and the Fischers are an important part of the Red Angus family. We couldn’t be more honored to present them with this prestigious award.”

“Being named the RAAA Personality of the Year is a tremendous honor for us,” said Esther Fischer. “We are humbled by receiving it and truly believe in the people and the cattle. They are our passion.”
