The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) welcomes Harold Bertz as its new Director of Business Development. A Missouri native, Bertz will play an integral role in increasing the demand for Red Angus genetics.
“Harold brings vision and fresh ideas to the Red Angus Association,” said Twig Marston, Association chief executive officer. “He is dedicated to his work, the beef industry and the Red Angus breed. We’re excited to have him join our talented team of professionals and are looking forward to him taking our marketing programs to the next level.”
A sixth generation rancher, Bertz brings more than 20 years of management experience from Meadow Lane Farms. A diversified crop and livestock operation, Meadow Lane Farms was established in Mayview, Mo., and has been in Bertz’s family since 1944.
As the Director of Business Development, Bertz will create, implement and review business development and alliance programs which focus on increasing demand for Red Angus genetics. He will be responsible for developing relationships with beef production and food entities that will strengthen the Red Angus presence in the beef industry.
“Throughout my lifetime involvement in the cattle industry, I have always admired Red Angus cattle and the breeders that raise them,” said Bertz. “I have appreciated the commitment to science and the commercial industry that Red Angus have always exemplified and am honored to be a part of this dynamic organization.”
Bertz is a past board member and president of state breed associations and currently serves on the Lafayette County Cattlemen’s Association Board of Directors.
Along with his experience in the cattle industry, Bertz has also been nationally recognized as an Adult Agriculture Education Instructor and FFA Advisor in Missouri. He has won several educational awards including MVATA Teacher’s Association Distinguished Service Award and Missouri Outstanding Adult/Postsecondary Program.
Bertz received his bachelor’s of education and agricultural education from Missouri State University in 1993, then went on to earn his master’s degree in agricultural education from the University of Missouri. He currently lives in Mayview, Mo., with his wife Melisa and two children, Molly and August.
