Looney named outstanding junior

Former Junior Red Angus (JRA) Association President Alyssa Looney of Denton, Texas, was named the 2013 Outstanding JRA Member during the 60th Red Angus National Convention held in Lewistown, Mont., this fall.

"Alyssa embodies the attributes the JRA strives to build in its members," said Dawn Bernhard, junior programs coordinator. "She is an enthusiastic, energetic ambassador for the breed and its people."

While serving as JRA president, Looney traveled to several states, including Colorado, Indiana and Montana, and internationally to Canada representing the JRA at shows and in the media. She is currently working on obtaining her law degree in Pennsylvania.

The Outstanding JRA Member award is presented to a junior member who has contributed his or her services to the betterment of the national junior organization throughout the past year.
