Red Angus Selects New Location for 2021 National Red Angus Open Show

Posted October 9, 2020

Denver – The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many challenges in the beef industry, including the ability for cattle show enthusiasts to present their breeding stock in public cattle exhibitions. In the wake of the cancelation of the 2021 National Western Stock Show and the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, the Red Angus Association of America has selected the newly formed Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as the host for the 2021 National Red Angus Open Show.

This decision will not affect the 2021 National Junior Red Angus Show, which will be hosted by the North American Junior Red Angus Event in Lebanon, Tennessee, June 20-26, 2020.

The tentative dates for the National Cattlemen’s Congress are as follows:

  • Friday, Jan. 1 – Early arrival begins
  • Monday, Jan. 4 – Regional Red Angus Junior Show at 9:00 am
  • Tuesday, Jan. 5 – National Red Angus Pen Show at 9:00 am
  • Wednesday, Jan. 6 – National Red Angus Open Show at 9:00 am

Chessie Mitchell, show coordinator for RAAA stated, “Although everyone is disappointed by the cancelation of NWSS and FWSSR, we look forward to working with the Cattlemen’s Congress for our upcoming National Red Angus Open Show. We know everyone is ready to get back in the ring and we look forward to seeing everyone in Oklahoma City in January.”
