The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) is pleased to announce the addition of its new member services specialist, Katie Teague. A Tennessee native, Teague will play an essential role in handling the association’s membership department.
Teague was raised in Shelbyville, Tenn., where she showed and judged all species of livestock. She earned her bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and business from the University of Tennessee and her master’s degree from Kansas State University in agricultural economics.
“We are really excited to have Katie join the Red Angus team,” said Twig Marston, RAAA Chief Executive Officer. “She brings a strong agricultural background and a skill set that will be valuable in helping producers improve and operate their herds.”
As the member services specialist, Teague will work closely with DNA submission, reporting genomic merit, executing all aspects of Total Herd Reporting, handling membership education and providing services for RAAA stakeholders.
“I am excited to be involved in an industry that I truly love and where I can help producers,” Teague said. “I have been involved in several associations as a member, and it is neat to use my experiences to continue to assist producers on the association side of the industry.”
Teague has previous experience working as an intern for the United States House of Representatives where she wrote constituent letters concerning the proposed 2013 Farm Bill and gave Capitol tours. She also worked in the Department of Economic Analysis for the American Farm Bureau Federation as an intern working on research, writing market reports and attending meetings throughout Washington D.C.
Teague also brings to the team some international experience. In 2012 she represented Kansas State University at the International Food and Agri-Marketing Association conference in Shanghai, China.
