Effective January 1, 2011

The USDA has established a new requirement for producers enrolling calves into any USDA PVP. The revised USDA GU7309CCA regulation for Age and Source Verification states, “A review of production records to ensure conformance must be conducted prior to final approval of the producer and animals. A record of this review must be maintained by the approved company.”

So what does this mean for ranchers using the FCCP Yellow Tag?

Current FCCP customers are already familiar with the basic requirement of sending in their Enrollment Agreement and retaining their calving record(s). To meet the new requirement, a producer simply needs to send a copy of their calving record(s), along with the Enrollment Agreement by fax, mail or email to RAAA. This can simply be a copy of the 1st page of your calving book or worksheet, a copy of your calendar/date book or even a copy of the electronic file of your calving record(s). Upon receiving both of these documents, RAAA will issue a Certificate of Compliance (COC) which documents final approval of your calves into the FCCP.

Although USDA now requires an additional step from producers enrolling cattle into any PVP, the Red Angus FCCP is designed to be the most user friendly and simple PVP in the industry. If you have questions, please contact the RAAA Marketing Staff.
