Oklahoma City, OK - Red dirt deserves red cattle. During the June 2026 Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) Board of Directors meeting, the board voted unanimously to relocate the headquarters of the RAAA from Commerce City, Colo., to Oklahoma City, Okla. RAAA is leasing temporary office space until a permanent location is determined in the next 24 months.

During this process, the Board of Directors evaluated several factors that needed to be addressed considering the current business climate in Colorado, accessibility to members and alignment to the growth of the beef industry. The relocation was a decision that was handled with the utmost seriousness and care for the RAAA membership. 

The decision by the board to move the headquarters represents a strategic investment and vision into the future. This decision was backed by a focus to represent membership alignment, financial stewardship, workforce and talent acquisition, accessibility and industry growth. 

This move positions RAAA to be closer to a large portion of the membership base, not only strengthening relationships, but strengthening the influence of Red Angus in the cow herd.

“Our goal is to be a driving force when the cow herd starts to be rebuilt, and being right in the middle of cow country positions us to be in a great location to support it,” said Jeff Pettit, RAAA President.

By relocating from the state of Colorado, the association is able to reduce overall operating costs. This will allow for resources to be redirected toward membership services, breed improvement, technology and youth programming. 

“The association belongs to its members, and the board has a responsibility to make decisions that protect and strengthen that investment,” said Keith Hickle, Treasurer and Region A Director. “By reducing unnecessary operating costs and creating greater flexibility to invest in member-focused programs, we are taking a proactive approach to ensuring the association remains financially sound and well-positioned for the future.”

By relocating the office to Oklahoma, the association is able to consistently invest in Critical Objective #3, Retain, Attract and Develop Talent.

The location offers a strong agricultural workforce and is supported by an ag-friendly community. The accessibility of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area makes collaboration among members and staff convenient. 

“The culture and passion for agriculture that Oklahoma represents are incredibly similar to the key principles that the Red Angus breed was built upon,” Pettit said. 

The new temporary office space is located at 2012 S. Post Rd., Midwest City, Oklahoma. The permanent location will be determined in the next two years. The last day that mail will be received at the Colorado office is August 20, 2026. After that date all mail will be forwarded to the Oklahoma office.
